I have been using Clio for about 6 years. It has grown so much in that time. I am very pleased with the direction they have taken the product and I can't wait to see what else they come up with!
Avantages
Clio is repeatedly at the top of the charts for available features. Clio is constantly working to improve their service and adding new features and functionality. We have had no problems to speak of. Any issues that we have had have been related to finding a particular option or feature.
Inconvénients
I wish that Clio would support more advanced document generation. At present, it just does mail-merge-type generation. Substituting fields in Clio with a field indicator in a Word doc. I would love to be able to get rid of HotDocs and use Clio instead, but it just can't match what HotDocs can do. The other feature that I wish it supported is the ability for external uses (clients) to fill out forms or data, which can then be stored in Clio.

Avantages
The ease of entering notes, communicating with client through the portal, and billing clients are what I like most about Clio.
Inconvénients
The Reports could be improved. Having more options of the reports that I need would be nice.

Overall, the product is very user friendly. The price point is amazing and the features are perfect for me as a solo practitioner.
Avantages
I like that it is inexpensive and fairly easy to use. I like that I can directly file my emails into the matter file. I love that I can use my ScanSnap to scan directly to Clio.
Inconvénients
I would love to be able to export reports to an Excel spreadsheet and/or to be able to quickly access a numbered report of current open cases. I would like to be able to add someone as a user to be allowed access and run reports without paying for the entire separate license. It would be much easier for support staff (if and when I get them) to assist me with client communication and processing mail.

I love living in one database. It is wonderful that it links with Outlook and can track all data related to a Matter or Contract, including related contacts. Co-council is a slick feature. My productivity has skyrocketed. Tech support is amazing and available during off hours.
Avantages
All the most crucial aspects of my workday are incorporated or linked in one central database. It makes it easy to track everything and invoice it all. Tech support is readily available, well-trained, patient and willing to take and submit suggestions to development.
Inconvénients
I came from a mid-range practice management software and miss some of its features. The timer button should be red and blinking. I tend to leave it running when I get interrupted. I wish it had a spell check. I wish the app version was easier to navigate - it is hard to tell when a timer is running and how to find it to turn it off. Set up is intensive, as it would be with any practice management software. I wish some of the field names were customizable for professional fiduciaries. I wish some of the fields would default w/o having to fill them in. I wish there was more instruction on workflow when setting it up. I did not like the importing of my old data and undid it. The team was too quick and didn't fully understand my wishes or wasn't able to bring in just the data I was requesting. I wish the reporting was better than dumping to Excel.

Clio has improved my efficiency, as I can message clients with reporting letters, it has given clients better access to our firm in terms of easy communications, and it has streamlined our document management and e-signature process. It has consolidated many other legal software applications we had been using and has saved the firm money. It is easy to learn, and the metrics are very useful in terms of bookkeeping and tracking what type of work each user has been doing. Our clients enjoy using the phone app as well.
Avantages
Clio is easy to learn, has numerous helpful features for the firm and for clients, and it is reasonably priced.
Inconvénients
The client portal could be significantly improved by allowing documents and bills to be sent even if they are not tied to a particular matter. It would also be helpful if, once documents are uploaded to the client's matters, they could be placed in the chronological or reverse chronological order, no matter the order the were uploaded. It would be helpful if initial trust requests could be sent via client portal; currently they may be sent only via email. The Apple Clio for Clients app also does not allow the user to turn the screen to "landscape" such that longer titles can be viewed in one screen. It relegates the iPhone user to portrait view only.
