Great platform that is always improving

so many quality of life features that make tedious administrative tasks really easy!
Inconvénients
expensive phone customer support can make it challenging to get a quick answer to a query.
Email support is free, however, can be slow.

HR made easy

The fact we can have up to 350 people inducted and work ready over our peak season the thing we loved most was the ease in which we could do multiple pays per week for the different divisions we have, and the fact employees can access their payslips, leave balances etc is just awesome.
We most definitely saved hours pay day by using this system very happy we made the change to Employment Hero.
Avantages
We found the system super easy to use once set up had been completed it was a very simple process to move over to Employment Hero - We use a lot of seasonal workers through Cherry season and this system made it so much easier for employees as well as the admin team.
Inconvénients
Not so much as liking least but it just took a while to work out which information was where in the menu

Think twice.

If a seamless user experience and reliable software that's easy to use is important to you, do not choose Employment Hero. It has been working OK (just) since ironing out most of the problems but not work the time and money to get to this stage.
The HR and Payroll software are clearly sold separately because the look and feel is different and you need to instruct managers to perform actions in one platform, despite being able to do it in another, causing confusion.
Avantages
The ability for employees to update their own personal information. Contract templates are helpful for those who don't have an internal legal or large HR department.
Inconvénients
The integration between the two products - HR and payroll is awful. They often don't communicate with each other seamlessly and you are required to learn by trial and error due to the poor deployment processes and cumbersome workflow regarding setup. Customer Service is helpful most of the time but you will be passed through numerous people who do not explain the fundamental use of all the features. Too much emphasis is on knowing the hundreds of pages of instructions and features. Timekeeping apps (Clock Me In/Workzone) are simply terrible.

The on boarding off staff has become so much easier compared to manually entering forms and employee information in the system. We also utilise the payroll feature and the payroll team we work with are brilliant too. A lot easier to collate items such as policies, collect employee documents and track their document expiry dates for compliance purposes much easier. Also much easier to track probation periods with the reminders.
Avantages
I like it’s easy to use, the HeroShop (now My Benefits -> Discounts) is brilliant and adds a benefit for employees, issuing employee documents and on boarding them is very simple and saves us so much time otherwise spent on manual on boarding. Leave management, timesheet management very simple and straightforward. Reporting features is great too, to find out staff insights such as headcount numbers etc. Any queries I have or issues with the system the support team is very helpful too!
Inconvénients
Occasionally when I email employment contracts to staff they have difficulty with finding this email in their junk mail / spam / inbox. Some are not able to find this at all. I usually have to then send the contract manually. There’s no way to resend the contract once it has sent, so perhaps a feature such as send a staff member a reminder email to sign their contract could be beneficial. Some staff have trouble uploading their certifications, perhaps by incorrectly dating or using the wrong document format (e.g. Not PDF). I think having more features on the phone app too would be great because majority of staff use employment hero on their phones only because it’s quicker and more convenient. For First or secondary managers, if they can lodge leave on behalf of their staff via the mobile app, I think that’d be a brilliant addition to the phone app.

EH replaces so much paperwork and files that were previously saved on the server which needed to be printed, signed and scanned. EH replaces all of this.
Self implementation was painless.
On-boarding new team members is only a few clicks.
Avantages
Time-sheets and leave application from the app
Today's events in the app
Certifications to automatically control licences, tickets and qualification replacing onerous spreadsheets
Content Management - ability to add templates and link these to the relevant team members
HR Documents tab in the personnel file - so easy to issue and finalise contract, pay reviews etc.
Reviews in EH replacing a manual paper system
Good screen layout - easy to navigate
Inconvénients
My only reservation in opting for EH was the lack of a Learning Management System (LMS). Now that GO1 is available this should meet our requirements.

Easy to use and customise to our needs!

The onboarding is great, we have induction content so that new employees are familiar with our business and can complete tasks before they start.
Avantages
In love how easy it is to use and customise to our needs. The customer support is also amazing!
Inconvénients
I would like an easy way to get a list of employee start dates and date of birth and be able to quickly get a list of employee teams. This may be available in the premium options, but not the one we are using.

The onboarding team were amazing! Very easy to get along and use the software.
Avantages
Integration with payroll.
API capability.
Ability to brand the portal to our own branding.
Electronic paperless processes.
One stop shop for HR management.
Inconvénients
Because we use Keypay already, they have not handle the integration with Keypay well. We are currently having to use Keypay for rostering and payroll. It should be all in the one new system Employment Hero.

As our HR Platform, it provides access to great tools for insights and staff management.

Biggest benefit is having all the staff data in one place, plus auditing tools/notes to record staff changes and moves. It is fast, simple and does exactly what it needs to.
Avantages
It is easy to use, relatively comprehensive, and is a one-stop shop for employee data. We utilise it primarily for recording employee data and contracts (not Payroll) and offers good tools to report on compliance and profile completeness. It is currently an essential tool in our business for managing our staff.
Inconvénients
Most features are pretty well thought out, and one of the biggest limitations (timeframe and cost to have custom built contracts/policies) is soon to be a thing of the past. Probably the biggest bug I have is after viewing or sending a contract to a recipient, there is no one-click to return the the Employee File - you either need to search again or navigate back in the browser.

Fine, but not great. Weak customer support.

Seems like a fair "jack of all trades, master of none" toolkit for small businesses. This is a prime example of a company that ships new features that a small subset of clients use, at the expense of maturing the interface design for the 20% of features that 80% of clients use. It's just a little clunky overall.
Sadly, they clearly underinvest in Customer Support, as response times are heinous.
Avantages
It has a REALLY wide variety of features for HR/P&C
Inconvénients
Customer support "initial response" times averaged north of 1 week for basic requests from our organisation. UX is underinvested in (5/10).

Like it - but needs more flexibility

Good but a little frustrating. I like the platform but it needs some work to make some of its features a little more flexible.
Avantages
The set up and implementation of Employment Hero was relatively simple. Really did't take that long to integrate with Xero and it all seems to sync nicely.
Inconvénients
There are parts to this platform that are a little clumsy. For example, 1. when making templates up based on PDFs you cannot simply replace the PDF of the base document, you have to delete the entire document and all the dynamic fields and start again. 2. Expenses and Leave approvals can only be approved by one manager, which eliminates businesses that have different managers for each function. Would be good to be able to allocate who approves expenses and who approves leave. 3. Managers can't see leave balances only admins, which is not ideal as managers need to be able to check leave entitlements before approving requests.

A timesaving business value HR platform once you get set-up

Avantages
We effectively use EH as our online HR platform. In this aspect it is spot on with Policies, Compliance, Certifications, HR Docs, Contracts and Onboarding. Very happy to use an Australian company. The guidance templates for HR docs and policies are excellent. Pricing is incredibly efficient. Subscription outsourcing is the now for smart businesses. Payroll Xero integration through EH is much less impressive which is such a shame.
Inconvénients
Minor features are missing. Xero payroll functionality is not good enough - actually that's a major issue. How can you not have YTD available on pay slips?? We've had to revert to Xero's My Payroll, so now staff have 2 platforms to manage. Then the smaller but equally frustrating items - You can enter the public holidays that apply to your location but these aren't reflected in the team leave calendar as an identified PH. Why not? You have already identified then surely the data can be pulled into the team calendar. I submitted questions to the helpdesk and in reply got an answer but got told to sign up for an online Q&A session for future queries. I don't have time for an hour and to have to book in time, I should just be able to email off a question and at some point get and answer. There are other minor frustrations but the overall HR functionality probably outweighs the issues, until we find better.

Solid HR platform with self-service approach

As an employee, the integrated approach of Employment Hero gives me much greater visibility and control over all the aspects of my employment in one place than any system I'd previously used. It brings together all the bits of information typically stored in folders and emails and separate systems: formal employment docs, leave and pay, performance management, and team dialog around goals and awards.
Avantages
- Ability for users to self-select a range of settings, functions and notifications, as well as find all employment-related documentation in one place.
- Ability to access, review or initiate contractual documents, incident reporting, team comms, goal-setting, policies, reviews and rewards.
- Encourages interaction with employees through goal-setting, nominating others for awards, etc.
Inconvénients
- initially, payroll took a long time to get going (I was told there were complications with syncing records but this is now sorted)
- some elements of the user interface are less intuitive than expected of this generation of software, but relatively minor compared to its overall capability

The company I am employed by (Scooter Hut) use Employment Hero for rostering, staff communications, some* bonuses, documentation of employee certifications and much more. I am so thankful they do use it as it has made my life much easier and more rewarding from an employee point of view.
Avantages
Employment hero has made my transition into a new company so simple and pain free over the last 9 months. It has taken the pain out of scheduling and I have received some great discounts and benefits. Every company would be better off with this setup. My Hero!!
Inconvénients
I would love the opportunity to have a dual benefit system where I could earn Hero Bucks whenever I have spare time by completing data entry or other online tasks. An added bonus would be to be rated on your performance of said tasks and get bonuses for great ratings. This would not only reward any quality content being delivered but ensure whoever is getting the tasks completed can be assured of the best possible quality completions.

Great Platform

We have been with EH for almost 3 years now and it has been great to watch the platform continuously grow and improve. Overall it has been a positive experience for us and has provided piece of mind when it comes to HR and payroll processes. We also really enjoy the Employment Hero News articles.
Avantages
EH has allowed us to streamline our on boarding and payroll process while keeping us completely paperless. It has created so much ease for imputing employee information, managing leave requests and processing payroll. Staff love the app and the ease it provides in updating personal details and submitting leave.
Inconvénients
The reporting functionality and the visualisation of the reports could be improved and possibly being able to customise the Security Groups in more detail.

Employment Hero is amazing. Not only does the software solve so many problems, the company taht manage it are continually delivering new functionality and services to help business owners & operators. They do so at a highly affordable rate. My company also uses their HR legal services - Employment Innovations - which provide highly affordable advice on all range of HR issues. It's like having an in house HR team for a fraction of the cost
Avantages
As a small business operator, this software enables me to deliver a bonafide and professional HR function to my employees. It helps ensure I'm compliant with regulations and deliver employee services that are reliable and trustworthy. In addition to this, it saves me time.
Inconvénients
There are some areas for improvement but I am not aware of a better product in the market and the developers are continually innovating the product.

Incredible platform that just gets better

Generally pretty good customer service. email support can be a little slow at times.
Avantages
Heaps of ease of life features that make normally time-consuming HR admin tasks really simple.
Inconvénients
Sometimes support questions via the email can go unanswered and you have to pay extra to have a phone line.

Paperless onboarding!

Avantages
The ease of use and roll out has been fantastic. The cloud based system doesn't require dedicated IT resources and can managed and rolled out by anyone.
The paperless onboarding/contract signing is fantastic!
Inconvénients
To upload and edit HR documents requires mark up and emailing to the support team.
Onboarding doesnt force the staff member to fill out all relevant personal data fields.
Onboarding module doesnt apply to contractors thus I have to add them through the employee side (whilst stipulating that they are a contractor).

Good software - very difficult implementation journey

Avantages
Comprehensive platform with lots of features.
Inconvénients
We have found the implementation journey very difficult. Having to rely on email for every question and waiting up to a day for a reply makes the process agonizingly slow and expensive. There have been a few software glitches and we have been told we will hear back, but each time the ball, unfortunately, gets dropped. Suggest that Employment Hero add a well-trained phone support team which will really help their customers. It has been explained to us that it is a cost and scalability issue as a reason EH do not offer ready access to phone support, but this means that they are placing profit above customer experience which will impact referrals and growth in the long run. I hope management take note and make this a software that will have raving fans, because I know we are not alone in our frustrations and current experience.

It took us a while to get set up and to work out how it all worked, our company is fairly large and a bit confusing so we were probably a unique case. Now that we have worked out the kinks, I'm very excited for how we can use Employment Hero!
Avantages
Almost everything can be done through Employment Hero, we are now moving towards an almost completely paperless onboarding and payroll system which is helping to streamline all of our admin processes.
Inconvénients
Sometimes it wasn't very intuitive, things seem hidden in the menus, just took a while to get used to it.

Overall, my experience with EH has been very positive

Everything - more organisation, more visibility, just more of everything
Avantages
The software is easy to use and for the most part intuitive, it is great to have everything all together instead of scattered about in different places and it allows for future growth. We have been able to adapt various functions to our own use, rather than what they were intended for, so the system is versatile. The support is super and best of all, being an Australian company, they are right here so we get very quick response and the software is made Australian laws and requirements in mind, rather than American or European. Overall, I am very positive about this system and we have found that the more we use it the more we find we can do with it.
Inconvénients
We would like to see more in the employee dashboards, such as their goals but apart from that, there isnt really anything we are disappointed with and the EH team is very open to clients providing ideas for the development team.

The team at Employment Hero are extremely capable from sales to integrations, they listen carefully and ensure the best available options are applied to meet your operational needs.
Avantages
The seamless functionality between the HR and payroll portal. Amazingly fast to set new employees up. Brilliant in keeping requirements specific to your need in addition to ensuring they are up to date, whilst reminding you in time to book in for training.
Inconvénients
Not really a con - there is so much functionality that there is a lot of learning on the go.

Took some time to decide on a product that would support our business.

Avantages
It is user friendly and easy for employees to use. Employees are able to receive notification via mobile or email.
Inconvénients
There is afunction that isn't fully developed that would support our business. Ie contractors information not being able to save after they are off boarded.

EH platform made HR record keeping easy

Avantages
Document control of company policies, record keeping of HR documents, leave management etc. Tasks traditionally took many hours are now done paperless and there'll be no argument that the employees have not received documents.
Inconvénients
Understanding 'variables' in the contract template was a little hard because I couldn't find answers by going through 'Help' or manager's manual. I was preparing a contract for one of managers and it kept revering to my position/my name instead of the manager's. Once I figured out why it was doing that, it was all fine but perhaps this needs to be added to user's manual. One thing I'd like to have in EH platform is a new employee to acknowledge that he/she received an induction. I know I can assign induction tasks to my team members but from what I can see, there's no area for the new employee to acknowledge that he/she received the induction. So I'm still getting a paper checklist signed by the new employee and uploading the record.

I found the information and the ease to use is great for me as I can see a lot of information in one place.
staff find it easy to use.
Inconvénients
I have not found anything at this stage.
We cannot put contractors in there so we can put leave in.

Employment Hero has made general HR tasks a breeze. Sending contracts, policies and procedures etc is so quick and easy, the reporting and tracking saves a lot of time.
Avantages
great small to medium business integration
ability to go completely paperless in HR
easy onboarding and offboarding
transparent accountability
Inconvénients
- would love to see some recruitment ad in's with ATS
- want to be able to send Letter of Offer's through the portal
If using it for multiple different companies and an employee moves companies i want to be able to import their file over completely
